Official Movie Review and Trailer: Return To Sender (2015)

Rosamund Pike plays "Miranda", a medical caretaker who appears to have everything she wants - her own nice and decent house, a very lovely dad (Nick Nolte), a steady profession for her growing ambition. One day, a lascivious outsider William (Shiloh Fernandez) gets entrance into her home and assaults her. As her flawless world comes to fall down around her, Miranda chooses for a special "treatment", in the trust of recouping from the ruthless attack she endured.

From the earliest starting point this film appears to be really cynical. Each man aside from the great and important character "father" is shabby and absolutely terrible. Return To Sender is about the "threat from the unknown", and "all men are attackers simply waiting to bang the blonde hero at any minute!" In the beginning of the movie she was attacked by a dog. The dog then teared up her dress. I believe this scene cannot easily be forgotten. All over the place she turns, men are finding her, getting in her direction, or making shabby remarks. All of that eventually came down into a strange, unrealistic assault scene. By then I thought, "alright, definitely no more films for today..."

The movie feels quite uncomfortable in its concept; it turns a very serious subject into nothing more than a low quality thriller. In any case, notwithstanding for what happened on the set, there was no tension to be felt anywhere. The clashing characters may go crazy while there is nothing for them to lose, yet you simply couldn't care less about when they would be torn to pieces. It's difficult to get embedded into these characters. There is a feeling of reality, and simultaneously, a constrained madness when the movie was ending. "Gone Girl" also has that convergence of authenticity and preposterousness, however the movie was finished with great style, intriguing critique and some stunning moments. In Return To Sender, it's all standard goofiness. It's not exactly fun, not even to the individuals who are looking for a greater amount of "Rosamund Pike" being an awkward sociopath while damaging somebody's life.
